Our Incredible Team

Byron Fair Founder/President

Byron Fair

I have been in school for almost 25 years now, so education is in my blood. I have received my Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts in Education, and I am currently working on my Master of Divinity. I am the associate pastor at St. Mark UMC, the chaplain for the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff’s Department, and serve as a supernumerary member to the City of Northport Zoning Board of Adjustment. Although I wear many hats, the common thread between them all is my desire to help those in need. The Fair Hope Foundation has become a new found passion of mine to pursue. I am so blessed to work with an amazing team and excited about where the future takes this new foundation.

By day I am the Undergraduate Coordinator at the University of Alabama School of Music, but by night I am a cookie connoisseur and coffee addict. Being the wife of a cancer survivor, this foundation means more to me than just helping young adults financially- although that is an important component of what we do. Having cancer is being part of a club that no one wants to be in, but you are not alone. My personal mission is to make sure that each person we come in contact with feels that they matter, feels loved, feels hope, and feels confident that their dreams and goals in life will not go unaccomplished because of a bump in the road. We’re here to help you with every step of your journey.

As a mother the hardest thing you can do is see your children hurt.  Over the past year I have watched both physical, emotional and mental hurt plague my family once again in the form of cancer.  After losing both my father and brother to this debilitating disease, to say my fear was crippling would be an understatement.  However, believing that God had greater things in store, I found comfort and peace knowing that He was on the other side of this storm.  I know that this organization will bring some light into what once seemed like complete darkness.  I am Nancy B Fair married for 36 years to Keith Fair with two children, Byron (Courtney) and Jill (Dusty). I have also worked at Rosen Harwood as the Real Estate Manager for almost 30 years. I believe no one should fight this battle alone which is why I know the Fair Hope Foundation is going to bring that light we experienced into someone's darkness.

I serve as the director of corporate and foundation relations at The University of Alabama, where I function as the primary connection between the UA campus and its supporting foundations and corporate partners. One of my favorite quotes is “we rise by lifting others.” There is nothing more rewarding than making a difference in someone’s life. Not only helping someone in need, but being able to connect a philanthropist to a worthy recipient. When Byron was diagnosed with cancer, it didn’t just affect his family, it affected his church and his community. His diagnosis created awareness to an area that needs attention and I look forward to helping many students like Byron for years to come.

I have owned a business and lived in Northport for 26 years. I have been married to my wonderful wife, Kathy for 25 years and we have two sons Brandon and Justin. Although I was born and raised in south Georgia, Northport/Tuscaloosa is my family’s home.
Unfortunately Cancer is a disease that we all get to experience either by getting it or having a family member, friend, or co-worker that have had it or currently battling it.  I lost my father and uncle to cancer so it has touched my life personally. I am honored to serve on the board for the Fair Hope Foundation and it is my hope that the foundation can provide assistance to as many people as possible who are battling this disease.

I currently work for the University of Alabama at the Center for Advanced Public Safety as a Technical Business Analyst. While IT is a passion of mine, I probably won't volunteer to set up your printer. When I'm not working, you can find me on the lake, cheering on the Crimson Tide, or sampling craft brews. I live in the great city of Tuscaloosa, Alabama with my wife, Ashleigh, and her crazy dog. One fun fact about me is that I've actually never lived outside of the state of Alabama even though I was technically born in Mississippi. I have a heart for helping others and am glad to be able to serve and be a part of the Fair Hope Foundation.
